My Favorite Kitchen Gadgets When Cooking with Kids

OXO Good Grips Lettuce Knife

A simple lettuce knife makes turning your back while your child learns knife skills and chops vegetables easier to do. The non-slip handle on this knife also makes it easier for little ones to grip.

Staybowlizer

I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen kids focusing so hard on stirring or whisking something that they completely forget to hold onto the bowl. This product eliminates that issue by suctioning the bowl to the base. You can also place the bowl at an angle for easier access for those little arms.

Manual Food Processor with Pull Cord

Kids get a kick out of the pull cord on this piece of equipment. Again, taking the sharp objects out of the way of those little hands this one is fun for both parent and child. In my classes, kids have chopped anything from nuts to onions. It’s also great for mincing herbs for those kids still developing fine motor skills.

Adjustable Rolling Pin

Not only is this rolling pin useful, but it looks awesome too! The measuring rings can be adjusted to ensure the dough or pastry is an even thickness all around. It’s also a great teaching tool to explain to kids why having cookies all the same thickness is important.

Monster Colander by OTOTO

I mean, how cute is this?! Sure, it works the same way as any strainer but makes it way more fun to wash veggies or strain pasta.

Nesting Bowls and Measuring Cups by Joseph Joseph

I love that these bowls are so easy to store. The different colors are also nice because I can get a visual that the cup the kids grab to measure 1/2 cup of flour is actually a 1/2 cup measuring cup and not 1/3 cup.

Helper Stool

Save your back by bringing the kids up to counter height. The added bonus this also helps keep them in one spot.
