Body Positive Parenting Guide

I’m super excited to share with you this Body-Positive Parenting Resource Guide! This guide is for those parents wanting to more information about raising a child in today’s world that includes a Weight Watchers app for kids (insert eye roll here).

There are a few reasons why I wanted to create this Body-Positive Parenting Guide. One, was just to be practical. I had a lot of parents asking for more resources and making a guide just made sense! Two, was because I wish I had some of these resources when I was younger. For a long time I wasn’t aware of how damaging the promotion of the thin ideal was, all I wanted was to fit in and be accepted. I think we all have those memories from childhood that we remember and now realize ‘oh, that’s the moment I learned that I wasn’t supposed to like my body.’ I wish I had been resilient enough to hear that and think ‘nope, I reject that and don’t need to change my body to be accepted.’ Unfortunately, it wasn’t that easy. It usually isn’t and that is why I wanted to create this guide.

The Body Positive Parenting Guide is filled with resources on a variety of topics:

  • Body Image
  • Cultivating Body Resilience
  • Puberty
  • Nutrition and Family Eating
  • Junk Food
  • Sports and Movement
  • Social Media
  • Eating disorder resources for parents
  • Eating disorder resources for Teachers, Coaches, and Trainers

It includes a variety of different forms of information like podcasts, books, blog articles, and more. It also includes resources for parents of all ages. This is no way is an exhaustive list of resources but just a collection of ones that I have found helpful and hope you will as well. All of the titles of resources are hyperlinked so just click on them! Feel free to share this with other parents and professionals as well!
